Hannah (Admin), Bernetta (AHA), Debbie (OT), Melinda (OT)
About Debbie Swanwick, Occupational Therapist
- With a career spanning 28 years, Debbie has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of children with developmental delays and disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Genetic Syndromes, Global Developmental Delay and Intellectual Disability.
- Debbie addresses challenges in the areas of fine and gross motor coordination, visual perception, self-care, play, attention, sensory processing, social skills, self-regulation, executive functioning and handwriting. Debbie is trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding.
- Debbie works with parents to determine therapy goals that are important to them, across the environments in which their child participates - home, school, day care and in the community.
- Debbie makes therapy an effective and fun experience that children look forward to.
- Debbie has a special interest in Autism and in Cerebral Palsy. Debbie specialized in Cerebral Palsy for 7 years.
- Debbie is registered with the Australian Health Professional Registration Agency.

About Melinda Saxon, Occupational Therapist

Melinda is a senior Occupational Therapist who has been working at Kids Can! OT since 2018.

Melinda's previous paediatric experience was with Education Queensland.

Melinda loves helping children work towards independence at home, school and play by learning and practicing skills gently and playfully.
-
From toileting, showering, dressing and shoe laces to sensory processing, calming strategies, handwriting, food preparation, food school (SOS method) and more.
-
Melinda is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and every second Friday.

About Bernetta Billing, Allied Health Assistant

Bernetta is an Allied Health Assistant and has been at Kids Can! OT since 2023.

Bernetta implements the therapy plans that Debbie and Melinda have created for your child, boosting the frequency and intensity of your child's intervention in a cost effective way, under the guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.

Bernetta has been working with and learning from Debbie for more than 2 years.

Bernetta is a proud Autistic and ADHD adult and strongly believes we are perfect just the way we are and always strives to support the individual in front of her to be their happiest self throughout their lives.

Bernetta has always enjoyed playing with and supporting children to develop into happy, confident individuals and really enjoyed formalising this interest to become a swimming teacher and then completeing her Allied Health Assistance certification.

Bernetta is available on Wednesday and Thursday.

About Hannah Dwyer, Administration Assistant

Hannah is currently travelling Australia with her family in a caravan and is working remotely.

Hannah works on Tuesdays and Thursdays doing invoicing and can be contacted via email at admin@kidscanot.com.au
